Event Note
Emrys and Sheila Williams visited SALucy's grave on Monday 18 April 2011. The cemetery is beautifully kept. Just behind it lies a much larger German cemetery, and local people have recently created a path between the two as a celebration of peace. It's moving to walk from the British to the German graveyard. We left some flowers to show that someone still remembered him. The photos are getoagged with the exact grave location. We had to search them all, it's in row 5C. The personal inscription (which is probably specified by the family) is "Jesus, mercy, Mary, help! / Lux Perpetua / Luceat Ei Domine / Requiescat in Pace" or "Let perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace." |

Narrative
Emrys Williams visited Brenda Sennitt at her home on 13 Aug 2011, and she told him:
On Steven Lucy:
Brenda Sennitt doesn't know the name of Steve Lucy's parents. They came from Ireland and moved to Merthyr for work. Brenda thinks Steven was botn in Merthyr. Steven's father died when Steven was young. Steven's mother was an alcoholic. Steven was, effectively, taken into care. He was sent ot a home in Aberdare. There, he went to a catholic school run by nuns.
On Steven's discharge from the army, he was given a civic welcome in Merthyr, and a council job was waiting for him. He took correspondence courses to get his accounting qualification.
Steven taught music, learnt in the army, to boys in his old school in Aberdare. Brenda thinks he played the oboe.
On Alex:
Alex got a field promotion, and a batman came with it. He was a rogue who was very effective. He provided a replacement for Alex's lost gun, no questions asked!
On Owen's children:
Tomos is in his fourth year of training to be a doctor at Bristol.
Hannah has been accepted to study medecine at Bristol, conditional on A Level results.
